Although it hasn't officially been released yet, I got my hands on "Dark was the Night", a compliation album of 31 exclusive tracks by artists we all know and love. Bon Iver, Feist, Ben Gibbard, Andrew Bird, Sharon Jones, Kevin Drew, The Decemeberists...just to name a few. The great thing is that they are all new songs, well some of them are covers. It is a great album. You can listen to the whole thing straight through without skipping a track (even though I already have a few favorites). I'm definitely going to purchase it when it comes out. It is being released on CD, LP, and digital. Another great thing about this album is that it benefits the Red Hot organization, a charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.
