Song: Dancing On My Own
Artist: Robyn
Album: Body Talk Pt. 1

This Swedish princess has been around the block a few times, but she continues to make a grand entrance with each new album. Since Robyn claims to have a plethora of songs just waiting to be unleashed, she has tentatively decided to release three albums in 2010. Body Talk Pt. 1 was just released in the U.S. on June 1. The album blasts off with the track "Don't Fucking Tell Me What to Do". Just reading that title got me excited. The lyrical repetition in this song is used quite well. The basic premise is that all of the vices we have in today's society are "killing" us, and Robyn is giving society the middle finger. "Dancing on my Own" (check out the music video above) is the first single off of the album, and it reminds you how good pop music really can be. I'm sure most can relate to this song. "Somebody said you got a new friend/ Does she love you better than I can?/ It's a big black sky over my town/ I know where you at, I bet she's around/ Yeah, I know it's stupid/ I just gotta see it for myself." On a side note, there is an absolutely amazing electro remix you can check out HERE.

Although there are a mere eight songs on the album, Robyn gives us quite the variety pack. For example, "None of Dem" is a much darker electro track featuring Royksopp. "Hang With Me" showcases Robyn in a different light. Her voice pleasantly rises above a piano and string instrumental. To end it all, Robyn softly sings a beautiful version of "Jag Vet En Dejlig Rosa", a traditional song in her native tongue.

There is one downside to this album: It leaves you yearning for more. Body Talk Part 2 needs to make an appearance sooner rather than later.
